On Wednesday, Oct. 16, the varsity field hockey team triumphed over Austin Preparatory School with a 3-0 victory, securing a third consecutive win within their season.

Over three hundred delegates from many schools in New England rush onto Exeter’s campus for PEAMUN each year. A strong community, Exeter’s Model United Nations runs many committees dedicated to simulating real-world problems. Additionally, students learn valuable academic and life skills while competing at the highest level.

From goggle-clad experiments in Phelps Science Building classrooms to solitary research fueled by little more than a single laptop, the pursuit of science captivates countless Exonians on campus. To satisfy these interests, many Exonians turn to the various STEM clubs on campus, which each offer their specialties in hopes of matching some of these Exonians’ extracurricular palettes. Among them, though, is a club that conversely embraces the full range of science, featuring twenty-three events across STEM subjects. This is Science Olympiad, a club and competition that serves as a catalyst for scientific minds on campus, bringing together students from a sea of scientific disciplines.

On Friday, Oct. 4, students gathered in the library to display a LEGO replica of the Class of 1945 Library.

Family Weekend is often a blast for many, with joyful reunions with parents and much-anticipated trips to Target or for some non-dining-hall food. Likewise, for those whose families could not make it to Exeter this time, especially international students, the Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) sponsored a field trip for them to Boston. This way, nobody missed out on the fun.

On Wednesday, Oct. 23, Exeter’s varsity volleyball team faced off BB&N, defeating them 3-0. Though the results turned out as expected, the game was not an easy win.

At 5 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20, members of Exeter’s boys and girls’ varsity crew teams left campus in buses bound for Cambridge, MA. There, they would compete in the annual Head of The Charles Regatta (HOCR)—the world’s largest race of its kind.

On the night of Friday, Oct. 25, Instructor in Music Eric Klaxton and guest artist Mike Effenberger filled the Bowld with waves of dreamlike synth and electric keyboard, enveloping the audience in a spellbinding soundscape.

If an Exonian were to open their phone today, they would be greeted by an onslaught of notifications from sources like Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok. In a world where children are spending an increasing amount of time online, Exonians use social media as their main mode of communication and socialization outside of real life. With posts and messages, friends can have quality time, even when they aren’t sitting right next to each other. These individual interactions aren’t the sole purpose of these apps though.

On Wednesday, Sept. 11, the girls’ varsity soccer team kicked off their season with a fierce game against Noble and Greenough School, one of the top teams in their league. Though the team was not able to secure a win this time, losing 2-0, their season opener was still a game fought with determination and commendable team play.

It is not often that you can spectate swordfighting and students conversing in togas, or hear distant Latinate shouts and fervent Ciceronian oratories — all at once.

On Friday, Sept. 15, Dartmouth professors Tarek El-Ariss and Susannah Heschel spoke in a moderated panel discussion about their recent intellectual and curricular collaboration at the university. El-Ariss and Heschel are the current chairs of Dartmouth’s Middle Eastern Studies and Jewish Studies programs, respectively. For the past year, they have collaborated to create a course on promoting open dialogue about sensitive topics among students of all backgrounds. After the panel, the professors encouraged the audience to ask questions.
